ZMM’s Director of Interior Design Carly Chapman, ALEP, is among the outstanding women being honored as a 2025 Wonder Woman by WV Living Magazine<\/a>. The following is an excerpt from the Fall 2025 edition. Congratulations, Carly! <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n

Inspired by her father and grandfather, both ministers who built churches on mission trips, Carly Chapman always felt called to build things. Now, as the director of interior design at ZMM Architects & Engineers, she\u2019s mapping out spaces that work for West Virginians and beyond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSo many people are afraid to bring their whole self. When you\u2019re yourself and you bring that into every room, people trust you.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDesign is about people,\u201d Chapman says. \u201cSo every single day, my job is different, because it has to reflect on how I\u2019m translating a client\u2019s vision. I\u2019m trying to figure out how to make meaningful spaces that will be rewarding and intentional.\u201d She enjoys creating beautiful, functional spaces in her home state and empowering newer designers who are just coming into the industry to do the same. She says her dedication to being authentic helps her collaborate and foster teamwork in everything she does. \u201cSo many people are afraid to bring their whole self,\u201d she says. \u201cWhen you\u2019re yourself and you bring that into every room, people trust you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chapman credits her family, faith, and God with getting her to where she is now, in a role that can touch so many people for years to come. \u201cI know that 100 years from now, 50 years from now, people are going to be walking through that building,\u201d she says, \u201cand it\u2019s still going to be making the same impact that we had hoped.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
