Currently, Ranson is a kindergarten through fifth grade school with approximately 300 students. Ranson is a Title I School and has been honored as a National Title I School, a West Virginia Title I School, and a West Virginia School of Excellence.
The Ranson Elementary School project is a testament to the power of community-driven design, sustainability, and educational progress. Born from a vision in 2018 for a multi-school campus, the elementary school was the first of this comprehensive plan. This 131-acre site provides space for athletic facilities and allows for future expansion, including middle and high schools. The new school replaces an outdated, inefficient building and serves as a beacon of hope for a community facing financial challenges. Its energy-efficient design incorporates Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) walls and a geothermal system, ensuring sustainability. Features of the new school include outdoor classrooms, two STEM labs, and a parent resource center.
The school offers more than education, providing a Parent Resource Center with vital support for families. Inspired by the imaginations and direct items from the wish lists of young students for their new school, the design features rocket-themed elements and cozy “rocket reading nooks,” creating a dynamic, safe, and inspiring environment. Ranson Elementary is a symbol of resilience, innovation, and the community’s commitment to supporting future generations.
