The new Ranson Elementary School will be a replacement school for the existing Ranson Elementary School for Jefferson County Schools in West Virginia.

The new elementary school will sit on a new site with all-new playgrounds, play fields, outdoor classroom spaces, an outdoor dining area, a student greenhouse, and separate areas for bus and parent drop-off areas.

The new school is designed for 450 students, grades pre-kindergarten through 5th grade, with space for future growth to expand to 600 students. The school includes a gymnasium, full commercial kitchen and dining room, media center, two STEAM labs, music room, art room, parent resource center, and mental health services.

The school is being designed with a space theme in keeping with the Rockets logo at the existing Ranson Elementary School. Throughout the school, areas are being developed to provide learning opportunities for students, even when they aren’t in a classroom setting. There will be reading nooks, quiet areas, small-group collaboration spaces, and a recycling area designed throughout the building for the students. The new 70,580 SF, single-story building will be built using insulated concrete forms (ICF) for the exterior walls. The exterior walls will be clad in brick. The roof will be a TPO membrane system. The HVAC system will utilize an on-site geothermal system. The site work will include a separate staff/visitor parking area with parent pick-up and drop-off area and a separate bus loading and drop-off area.
