The traditional design of the facility is a blend of new educational spaces, while acknowledging the school’s rich history with the use of arched windows, arched openings, barrel-vaulted lobby, red-faced brick and ivory rock-faced cast stone. The interiors echo the school spirit of the Williamstown Yellowjackets, while also providing a playful and colorful environment.
Academic areas were arranged by grade levels and provide a “smaller” feel for the 600-student school. The kindergarten-through-second grade wing was located on the north end of the school, allowing for separated parent pick-up and drop-off from the third-through-fifth grade area of the school. In keeping with the community theme, the dining room and gymnasium are located so these areas can be utilized after school hours and weekends. The final design was a result of a collaborative effort with the community and staff.
