Mineral County Schools will be opening a new PK-4 elementary school on the Frankfort School Campus. The new elementary school will welcome students in the Fall of 2024.

The new school will consist of a single-story classroom wing for the pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students. Each of the classrooms in this wing have been tailored to the size and needs of the students, as well as a fenced outside play area that is accessed directly from the classrooms.

The two-story classroom wing will house the first through fourth grade students. The state-of-the-art school will provide a STEM Center that incorporates many centers for students to have a hands-on experience while having fun learning. The site work will include separate staff/visitor parking with parent pick up and drop off areas, and a separate bus loading and drop off area with the service and deliveries area.

Other highlights within the school include an 8,000 SF gymnasium with bleachers, a music classroom, an art classroom with a kiln area, and a student store where students will be able to purchase school merchandise and other items with their earned Rocket Cash. The Frankfort Elementary School mascot is a rocket, voted on by the students and staff to reflect the nearby Rocket Center.
