ZMMer and Gold Star Mother Amy Rhodes shares importance of living memorial that honors local fallen service members

June 23, 2026

ZMMer and Gold Star Mother Amy Rhodes was recently featured on the Earth with John Holden series to share the importance of the living memorial for local fallen service members located at Toyota Manufacturing in Buffalo, WV. The space includes 55 apple trees that were planted by Gold Star Families, honoring the service members from the 55 counties of the Mountain State, including her son SPC William Rhodes from Putnam County whom we lost on November 30, 2017. Amy shared that this project helps families and the community as a whole honor fallen soldiers by “remembering their names and who they were.” ZMM is honored to support the efforts of Gold Star Mothers and Families and we are proud of the work that Amy and other Gold Star Families have done and continue to do for our state and communities.
