Carly Chapman honored as 2025 Wonder Woman by WV Living Magazine

October 28, 2025

ZMM’s Director of Interior Design Carly Chapman, ALEP, is among the outstanding women being honored as a 2025 Wonder Woman by WV Living Magazine. The following is an excerpt from the Fall 2025 edition. Congratulations, Carly!

Inspired by her father and grandfather, both ministers who built churches on mission trips, Carly Chapman always felt called to build things. Now, as the director of interior design at ZMM Architects & Engineers, she’s mapping out spaces that work for West Virginians and beyond.

“So many people are afraid to bring their whole self. When you’re yourself and you bring that into every room, people trust you.”

“Design is about people,” Chapman says. “So every single day, my job is different, because it has to reflect on how I’m translating a client’s vision. I’m trying to figure out how to make meaningful spaces that will be rewarding and intentional.” She enjoys creating beautiful, functional spaces in her home state and empowering newer designers who are just coming into the industry to do the same. She says her dedication to being authentic helps her collaborate and foster teamwork in everything she does. “So many people are afraid to bring their whole self,” she says. “When you’re yourself and you bring that into every room, people trust you.”

Chapman credits her family, faith, and God with getting her to where she is now, in a role that can touch so many people for years to come. “I know that 100 years from now, 50 years from now, people are going to be walking through that building,” she says, “and it’s still going to be making the same impact that we had hoped.”
