PUTNAM COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) – The work toward a new middle school in Putnam County is one step closer to the finish line.
The latest updates on the project were presented on Monday evening by the architecture firm ZMM Architects and Engineers to the Putnam County School Board this evening.
According to documents from the firm, they have successfully reduced the overall square footage of the school, which they say will affect the budget. They also said they are working on getting the final report of the traffic study for the new school in Hurricane.
“Every one of these steps, going through the design phase, the schematic phase, we’re getting closer all of the time but there’s a lot of information that has to be obtained to properly develop this total plan and get ready for a bid,” said Bruce McGrew, deputy superintendent of Putnam County Schools.
Officials said they hope to have the school up and ready to go by the 2028 school year.
