Perched on a prominent hilltop with sweeping 360-degree views of the surrounding landscape, the Tomblin Wildlife Management Area Elk Viewing Tower and Visitor Center offers an unmatched vantage point into the heart of West Virginia’s elk restoration area.

Designed to elevate the visitor experience, the project enhances public access to wildlife observation while supporting the vital work of the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources (WVDNR).

At the core of the site are two elevated elk viewing platforms, both steel-framed with wood decking, strategically positioned at the peak to maximize visibility across the elk ranges below. The lower platform, approximately 220 SF, is fully ADA-compliant and extends 35 feet beyond the hillside, offering a dramatic overlook above the treetops. A larger, 300 SF upper platform provides additional space for groups and panoramic viewing opportunities.

Complementing the outdoor experience is a newly constructed Visitor Center featuring a multipurpose meeting room, interpretive animal displays, offices, and accessible site restrooms. Supporting WVDNR operations on site is a dedicated bunkhouse with two bedrooms for range caretakers, and an office building outfitted with a lab and storage facilities.
