ZMM CEO Adam Krason honored for transformative leadership as Charleston Area Alliance welcomes new board chair

The Charleston Area Alliance has announced the appointment of Ellen Cappellanti, Member and former Managing Member at Jackson Kelly PLLC, as the new Chair of its Board of Directors. Cappellanti brings a wealth of leadership experience and a steadfast commitment to regional economic growth.

This transition marks the conclusion of a highly impactful tenure by outgoing Chair Adam Krason, CEO and Principal Architect at ZMM Architects and Engineers, who has led the Alliance through two pivotal years of transformation. Under Adam’s leadership, the Alliance navigated significant transitions, expanded its initiatives, and deepened its impact across the region.
“We are incredibly grateful to Adam for his steady leadership, vision, and dedication,” said Mara Boggs, President and CEO of the Charleston Area Alliance. “He helped guide our organization through transformative change, and his legacy will continue to shape our work for years to come. We are equally excited to welcome Ellen into this role – her experience, passion for our community and dedication as a highly respected business leader throughout our state, make her an ideal leader as we look to the future.”

ZMM is proud to support civic engagement and regional leadership through the active involvement of its professionals. In addition to Adam’s service, Jen Wood, Chief Marketing Officer at ZMM, has been named to the Alliance’s Board of Directors, continuing the firm’s support of the Alliance.
The Alliance also welcomes additional new members to its Board of Directors, including Bryan Brown of Brown Communications LLC, Bethany Kinder of Dow, Inc., Dan Owen of Goodwill Industries of the Summit, Andrew Robey of Hissam Donovan Ritchie, PLLC, Mark Slotnick of Bailey & Slotnick, PLLC, Chef Paul Smith of 1010 Bridge Restaurant and Catering/Paulie’s/The Pitch, Tim Whittaker of City National Bank, and Scott Wyman of West Virginia American Water.
As Cappellanti begins her term, the Alliance remains focused on collaborative leadership and forward-looking economic development. With the foundation laid by Krason and the continued engagement of business leaders across the region, including those from ZMM, the Alliance is well-positioned to pursue bold, strategic priorities for the Charleston’s future.
